ASTI students and CYS staff flew to Melbourne in late July to participate in the ATSI Industry Skills Exchange. The exchange is an opportunity for students to visit large businesses and industry leaders, share in ATSI success stories and be exposed to employment and career possibilities at a national and international level. During their time in Melbourne students:

  • Toured the Crown Casino, found out about career paths and talked to Aboriginal employees.
  • Toured the SBS studios.
  • Visited Melbourne Storm (NRL) and toured the headquarters.
  • Heard Australian Olympian Kyle Van der kuyp speak about his Olympic career
  • The Essendon Football Club, toured the ground, met players and learned about their programs.
  • Visited the Melbourne CBD, watched Hawthorn play Sydney at the MCG.
  • Visited AFL Sportsready at Victoria Park and learned about traineeships.
  • Visited the Richmond Football Club.
  • Toured the Charcoal Lane Restaurant and talked to the chef on the preparation of Australian foods.
  • Went to the Marngrook Football Show at the Deakin University TV Studio.
