Last week the Year 11 and 12 Outdoor Education class completed their three day kayaking journey from Point Turton to Corny Point.

Day 1

The weather was a little chillier than most would have liked but it was very favourable kayaking conditions.
With a gentle breeze at our backs, our kayaks packed and last minute toilet stops, we set off for our first destination of Burner’s Beach, approximately 6 hours away.
About 30 minutes in most of us were over the paddling and for some reason Kevin and Connor kept wanting to go the wrong way but we all pushed on and made it to camp late afternoon.
Soon we were filled with yummy hot food from our trangia’s and the fire was stoked and moods were much improved.

Day 2

We set off early and headed for Couch’s Beach.

After visits from the local dolphins, seals, pelicans and stingrays, the crew found day two much more enjoyable and we reached our destination earlier than planned.
This gave us time for some kayaking games.

Once again the campfire provided some good entertainment and after some sleep we made the journey to Corny Point on day 3.

Day 3

After some sore muscles, laughs, grumps and a few tears we had completed a good journey and enjoyed the wonderful scenery.

We now begin planning for our bushwalking camp next term.
