All our music groups and special programs were up and running this week creating a buzz of excitement (and a lot of music) around the PAC.
Festival Choir
Festival Choir has started with 5/6 students all joining the choir for a ‘come and try’. Conductor Debbie Schwartz was very pleased with the students attentive and respectful behaviour as she put the students through a series of fun singing games, vocal activities and songs. Students will have the option to continue with choir later this term.
Instrumental music
There were lots of excited students arriving for their first instrumental lessons this week, with some able to play complete songs after the first lesson. Students are encouraged to establish a regular practice schedule, as even 10-15 minutes a week will speed skill development.
Concert Band
Our first Concert Band rehearsal was well attended on Wednesday with lots of new and old faces. This year we have students enrolled from Kadina, Moonta, Maitland Lutheran, Ardrossan, Yorketown, and Minlaton schools. It was great to see our community members again and we welcomed back new teacher Laura Kotz who played with the band as a student some six years ago.
Senior Vocal Group
Our Senior Vocal Group has moved to a new rehearsal spot on Wednesdays after band with the aim of encouraging older students to join. Seven students from four different schools started this week.
