Statewide Netball

On Thursday June 2 the Year 7, 8, 11 and 12 girls travelled to Kadina to take part in the Statewide Netball competition. The 7/8 girls were coached by Miss Nixon and The 11/12 girls were coached by Montana Briggs. Annabel Geater-Johnson was also successful in being selected to participate in the Yorke Peninsula Zone team.

A huge thank you goes out to Ali Adams for umpiring the 7/8 team, Montana Briggs who filled in for Mrs Gaisford last minute and Ruby Dyett who played in the 11/12 team, and volunteered to umpire two games.

Both teams came up against some very tough competition at Kadina Memorial School who had strong teams in both grades, as well as the Yorke Peninsula Zone team, Maitland Lutheran School and Harvest Christian College. The 11/12 girls had one win from three games in the minor round and also won against Harvest in the final.

Unfortunately, the 7/8 girls didn’t manage to win a game, but they came very close.

It was fantastic to see everyone encouraging each other and helping their team-mates to improve throughout the day with a special mention to Kirene Newchurch who showed exceptional persistence and willingness to learn.
