Year 7/8 Visual Arts | Exploring Creativity and Colour

Year 7/8 students enjoyed a series of inspiring Visual Arts lessons as part of their integrated learning program.

The Psychology of Colour

In one session, students joined Miss Nixon’s Year 11 Integrated Learning Art class to explore the psychology of colour.

They discussed how colours can influence emotions and why certain colours are often used in specific settings. Students shared their thoughts on how colours make them feel then put this into practice by listening to meaningful pieces of music while painting their responses using only colours, shapes and movement to express emotion.

Sketching

In another lesson, students worked with visiting artists Kirene and Joey, who brought their trademark energy, inspiration and fun to the classroom. Students explored sketching and creative expression in new ways, building confidence and skills while enjoying a lively, hands-on session.

These experiences highlighted the value of collaboration and creativity, giving students the opportunity to engage with art in meaningful and memorable ways.
