The R/1s are learning about competition & working together

The R/1 Class read the story ‘Two Turtles’. by Kiah Thomas and Jake A Minton. This is a story about 2 competitive turtles that take it too far – Jumping off a cliff in a race to the bottom!

Task 1:

Students were asked to brainstorm and draw their plan to save the turtles. We had some very imaginative ideas, including parachutes, ropes and trampolines.

As we read on, we learnt that they already had everything needed to save themselves in their shells but only if they worked together.

Task 2:

Using only the items the turtles had in their shells the class made parachutes to rescue Frank and Terrence.
