Well, It has certainly been a busy Term including some fantastic immersion days for our secondary students like Early Childhood and AI Amplified VET training, Electro Tech, the Years 9/10 Aboriginal STEM conference, and the Flinders University Assessment Centre testing.Â
Book Week
The primary students have been busy with their Book Week celebrations. My first Bookweek at CYS was awesome! It was fantastic to see how the classes really embraced Australian literature, with each one showcasing an item inspired by one of this year’s shortlisted books.
The effort that went into the room setups didn’t go unnoticed—I overheard lots of visitors complimenting the incredible displays and how much pride the students took in decorating their spaces.
A huge thank you to all the home class teachers for making the day so special for our students and the wider community.
I also want to give a shoutout to Michelle in the canteen for the amazing catering— my Mum and Nanna were thoroughly impressed!
And of course, a big thanks to Tim for being our awesome MC and presentation guru, and to Pat for capturing all those wonderful moments of students reading to their Beanz!
Artist Paul Rutter Visit
We had Paul Rutter visit CYS this Term, and the students really enjoyed it.
Rumour has it that Miss Smart gave drawing the falcon a try on the whiteboard in the PAC and the students were impressed with her skills!
Horsemanship
In Week 5 this Term, we had horsemanship lessons run by Sophie Davies and supported by Sheree Brennan. The students were thrilled to have some furry friends on site and loved the chance to get up close and personal with them. It was a unique experience, and I’d like to thank everyone involved for making it happen.
Father’s Day
A huge thankyou goes to all of those Fathers, Grandfathers and Special people that came along to celebrate Father’s Day. A huge thankyou to those staff that helped cook a delicious breakfast and serve us coffees.Â
It was so great to see so many Dads take time out of their busy days to come into our school and celebrate with their children. We certainly appreciate everything that you do to support the students of CYS and the huge impact that you play in their lives.
Basketball Court upgrade
Court Upgrade – Have you seen the netball courts recently? If not please feel free to wander up and have a look at the court upgrade that is happening on the old basketball and netball courts.Â
We are in the middle of laying a special surface that can be utilised by a number of sports and is much safer for students to play on.Â
The new courts will include 2 dual netball and basketball courts as well as an area dedicated to hockey. We will also have 4 new basketball/netball systems as part of the upgrade. This is very exciting for our students and will look amazing once it has been completed.
Beanz performance
I am thoroughly looking forward to our Performance in Week 10. Thankyou to Mr Tuck and Di Borne for your hard work and dedication.
Just a reminder that next Friday the 6th of September, we have a school closure day for the Adelaide Show.
Have a great rest of the Term.
Best wishes,
