In week 4 the Stage 1 Outdoor Ed class ventured down to Berry Bay for their surfing practical. This was held over three days in what could have been warmer conditions but pretty good winds to get good surf.
After the introduction and safety messages the students were keen to get into the water with many of them showing good techniques early on. It was pleasing to see that all of the students showed resilience and determination and were all surfing by the end of the second day.
Apart from some huge wipeouts which gave us some good entertainment, there were plenty of highlights to draw on. These included Xenos’ gun show when he finally stood up, Annabel shredding the waves consistently, plenty of high fives while surfing waves together and the much anticipated tennis match between Sophie and Georgia versus Mr Clifford and Mr Channon. The girls ended up winning this match 6 – 2 but the rematch will be on.
Congratulations to all students on a great camp and representing yourselves and the school proudly.
