Beanz Production Roundup

After a term and a half of rehearsals it was wonderful to see how the who production cast shone on the big night for our world premiere of Beanz. School shows are always the culmination of many people working together and it’s important, post-production, to acknowledge these.

Cast

A major aim for our productions has been students gaining confidence in performing for audiences. This year’s show had students taking their first steps on the stage (like the ELC children) and those with lots of experience on different stages (such as our leads and older students).  So for everyone who dressed up, learnt a song and a dance and then shared it with an audience; congratulations, you were fantastic! Thanks also go to the teachers who also appeared on stage, including Michelle Cripps, Chelsea Schmidt, Miss Star, Debbie Schwartz, Ash Chivers (the Giant!) and our principal, Rob Jeffries.

Backstage Crew

Our backstage crew this year was led by Deputy Principal Finn Gilando who not only organised Jono, Sophie Jye and Mitchell to move the sets around but also helped build scenery, organised our outside change room and got crushed by the falling beanstalk- twice!  Also backstage was our School Secretary Richanda Fiegert (who moonlighted with costume coordination), community member Di Bourne organising quick changes and props and Debbie Schwartz as our prompt and coach on the night as well as appearing on-stage as Mama Gansa.

Technical Crew

A big thank you to 4/5 teacher Lachlan Rennie for funning our sound desk; with 18 channels of sound to mix, it was  big job! Helping out were Rhys and Nick on the cameras and lighting desk and  Sam on the spotlight. Special mention goes to Year 7/8 students Jackson for his superb handling of the music and sound effects cues.

Costumes & Makeup

The amazing costumes on stage were the culmination of hundreds of hours work by our costume designer Di Bourne and her team including Janine Burrows and Chris Thomas,  Thank you to Janine Burrows, Emma Mann, Kate Butler, Debbie Schwartz and the Year 7/8 students Sophie and Lily for the makeup on our many leads.

Student supervision

Thanks got to the class teachers for your support through rehearsals and help at performances looking after the students and ensuring they were on stage at the correct time!

Scenery

Art teacher Charlotte Nixon worked with the Year 9 students to create our big and bold giant’s castle and village scenes.

Photography

It’s important to have a photographic record of the show to reflect on, and this year’s fantastic photographs were taken by Mika King, Pat Hasting and Sarah Townsend.

Foyer & canteen

Thanks go to Mel Dickie for her work on the phone and in the front foyer as we navigated the new ticketing system. Special thanks go to canteen manager Michelle Batey and her helpers for the delicious and cleverly themed snacks available at the canteen,
