Primary Cross Country

It was in picture perfect conditions that the 2019 CYS Cross Country event was held for our Reception to Year 7 students on Friday May 17th.

The event is held on the Maitland Golf course to the south of Apex house and the Maitland Bowling Club. All students who attended ran the varying courses and earned points for their sports house.

This year it was an Eagles win, 277 points to the Sharks with 209

The event was also used to determine our nominations for the Southern Yorke Peninsula SAPSASA Cross Country team who will compete in Adelaide on June 6th. Students had to meet or better standard and be at least 10 years of age in 2019.

A huge congratulations to all participants and a very big thank you to the wonderful support provided by our wider school community. Events such as this would not be possible without the assistance of so many wonderful volunteers.

What fantastic weather we had for the CYS 2019 Cross Country last Friday! There was no repeat of previous year’s wet and wind and competitors made good use of the excellent conditions to post good times. Well done to all students who competed for persevering to complete the course and gain placement and participation points for their house teams and congratulations to Summer Davies , Tyson McWaters , Rhys Heinrich, Dylan Chapman, George Butler, Brody Davies , Tommy Linke, Barnaby Wheare, Marley Holmes, Jett Hasting and Nicholas Heinrich for their SAPSASA nominations.Congratulations also to the Eagles for getting up on the day with a convincing 277 to 209 point win over the Sharks. Thank you to all our student and parent marshalls, scorers and helpers and a huge well-done to Deputy Principal Beth Hector for organising the teams, equipment, staff, smooth running races and the glorious weather!
