Rhys Heinrich was selected as one of just ten young men from across Australia to join Movember’s Youth Action Council (Mo-YAC), a pilot aimed at amplifying youth voices in shaping the future of Movember’s projects and campaigns. As part of this national cohort, Rhys took part in a series of online workshops and collaborative sessions which will culminate in a final in-person summit later in the year.
Globally, Movember established three Youth Action Councils: one in Melbourne, Australia; another in Toronto, Canada; and a third in London, England. These councils served as platforms for young leaders to collaborate, share ideas and influence the direction of Movember’s work on an international scale.
During their orientation, the Mo-YAC team engaged with a diverse lineup of speakers, including leading researchers, policy makers, directors and Movember staff, who shared their vision and passion for improving men’s health and wellbeing. Notable guests included the Federal Member for Cooper, the Victorian Assistant Minister for Social Services and the Victorian Assistant Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence, Ged Kearney.
