The Year 3/4 Class have been exploring Chinese Inventions in STEM lessons. Last week we made our own paper by recycling scraps of coloured paper.
We started by tearing coloured paper into strips, making sure the edges were rough and lots of fibres were showing. Then we soaked the paper in water over lunch.
The wet paper was placed in a food processor to shred together, then we used paper towels to separate the paper pulp from the water.
Finally, we pressed the pulp through a sieve and set our newly made paper out to dry. Some students experimented with mixtures of colours, and we’re hoping to make some more paper with petals.
