Point Pearce Term 4 Update

The R-2 class had a brilliant time working with Aunty Sonya as part of the Carclew Artist in Residence Program. A big thank you to Aunty Sonya for her storytelling and weaving skills.

Outdoor equipment

It has been great to see our Preschool and Junior Primary students enjoying our new outdoor equipment. The bikes have been a big hit and there are plenty of great outdoor activities that will promote learning.

Year 10 Scotch College Visit

The Year 10 Scotch College students came to visit us at Point Pearce as part of their Environmental Science Camp.

It is great to have them visit the site and learn from some of the Elders about Nharangga Culture. The children absolutely love forming bonds with these students who are always so happy to see them and engage with them so wonderfully.

Garden project

This term we are excited to have extended our Revegetation and Culture Garden project to include the Year 3-6 Aboriginal students from the Maitland Campus.

We have been lucky enough to form a partnership with Point Pearce Aboriginal Corporation who have secured a substantial grant from Landcare Australia to support and supplement our existing grant from Northern Landscape SA.

We will now be able to reinvent the space behind the campus with a Yarning Circle, two hothouses, an irrigation system, and a shed with a goal of propagating and planting 10,000 native plants. Some of our secondary students will also be involved in the design and building of a Cultural Interpretative Walking Trail with cultural consultants, elders and the community.

Both of these projects are promoting community and school engagement as well as Cultural Knowledge Transfer and the development of a Nharangga Science Curriculum.

We are also looking forward to our Transition Program this term with 3 of our preschool students attending transition visits to the Junior Primary class this term and our Year 2 students visiting the Maitland campus once a week.
