This term we have offered many enriching learning experiences for preschool children, focusing on interactions to extend their needs and ideas.
This term, we welcomed two children into our Point Pearce Preschool and 27 children into the Preschool space at Maitland. Our Rural Care program provides care for 18 children throughout the week, and our Occasional Care program at Point Pearce supports families on Thursdays and Fridays.
New staff
We are delighted to introduce new staff at our Maitland Campus: Megan Pohlner as the Preschool SSO and Ellie Oster as our Preschool Support SSO. Our dedicated staff have been collaborating across both sites to strengthen working relationships through regular planning days, focusing on providing quality learning and play experiences for all children. Later in the year, we look forward to coordinating visits between the sites and organising some exciting joint excursions.
Point Pearce
Point Pearce Preschool has been actively involved in weekly play sessions with junior primary classes to build strong connections between preschool and school. This continuity of learning keeps the child at the centre and provides purposeful play and inquiry learning experiences.
Learning experiences
This term, we have offered many enriching learning experiences for preschool children, focusing on interactions to extend their needs and ideas. Activities included using produce from our vegetable garden to create healthy food options. Maitland Preschool children also enjoyed participating in sports day games within the ELC environment during the school Sports Day, offering them the opportunity to engage in team games and activities. The Easter Bunny made a special visit to both campuses, delighting all children with an early Easter treat.
Playgroup times
Carley Dutschke is facilitating Playgroup on Fridays from 9.30-11am for a gold coin donation. Carley has provided an overview of the term, and further information can be found on our Facebook page.
We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing you all in Term 2!
Yours sincerely,
