SAASTA & SAASTA Connect | April Update

These students will play an important role in guiding their peers and helping to create a positive school culture.

Get Behind the Camera for Road Safety

This term, a group of our SAASTA students were involved in filming this year’s Think! Road Safety commercial. The project forms part of our Power Cup points-submission and was aligned with the 2025 campaign theme “Stop Flirting with Death.”

Students were challenged to develop a 15-second commercial and create a powerful catchphrase. Our team delivered a strong message with:

  • Stop flirting with death…
  • Our mob matters –
  • stay deadly and safe on our roads to protect our future! Think! Road Safety.

Without giving too much away, since other academies are yet to submit, we were lucky to receive support from our local emergency services.

A huge thank you to Stephen Marks from Maitland Ambulance and local police officer Dennis, who generously allowed us to use their vehicles as background props.

Thanks also go to Di Bourne for her support in finding costumes and props for students and helping all day as our creative director, to Carley Dutschke for helping to coordinate the emergency services to support the project and to our younger student Jack, who nailed each of his scenes like a pro.

Here are a few sneak peeks of some behind-the-scenes moments. We look forward to sharing the final video on our school Facebook page next term, once the results are revealed at Power Cup!
