Our SAASTA and SAASTA Connect programs kicked off the year with a fantastic panel discussion featuring an incredible lineup of guest speakers which included: Rex Angie, Michael Wanganeen, Tshara Rigney, Daniel Newchurch, and Nigel Raymond.
Our guests shared their insights on this year’s NAIDOC Week theme, The Next Generation – Strength, Vision, and Legacy, exploring what it meant to them. The discussion then delved into a series of thought-provoking questions, focusing on our local context, the lives and experiences of our panellists, and their perspectives on the theme.
Students engaged deeply, reflecting on the discussion by writing words, questions, or statements that resonated with them on their whiteboards. Their insights highlighted meaningful connections between the conversation and their own experiences.
We sincerely thank our special guests for their time and contributions to this powerful discussion. This experience will now guide our Stage One students in designing their guernseys, which will be centred around this year’s NAIDOC theme. The designs are already taking shape beautifully, incorporating traditional symbols and stories that reflect their understanding of Strength, Vision, and Legacy. We can’t wait to share the final designs with you soon!
