National Tree Day

The Year 4 students from 4/5B and 4/5J participated in Schools Tree Day for 2018 by helping the Yorke Peninsula Council plant trees on the Maitland golf course on Thursday July 26.

The site chosen was at the southern end of Walter Street. The plan was to plant a range of native shrubs and trees along the new walking path that winds through the golf course just up from the old school.

Students worked in small groups to dig holes, remove trees from their pots, loosen roots, plant trees and erect wind guards.

During the morning session we planted nearly fifty trees and shrubs.
Students are to be congratulated on the care with which they completed their task. A big thank you to Mr Honner for his patient instruction and to Mr Allen for driving the bus.
