Earlier this term our Stage 1 Outdoor Education students had the opportunity to complete a one-day VET course where they gained skills in working in remote areas. This TAFE course covered the basics of map reading, the use of GPS systems and ways to safely travel through remote areas. Vocational Education provides a vital link between school and the workplace as it equips student with transferable skills and knowledge they can apply in many industries. Weather aside it was a great day. A big thank you to the Thomson family for granting us access to their property and a bigger thank you to two nameless heroes who helped one of our drivers out of a slippery situation.
