Congratulations to Year 10 student Annabelle Smart, who received a Certificate of Commendation’ from the Virtual War Museum Australia for ‘making a valuable contribution to the commemoration of Australia’s servicemen and servicewomen’ at the inaugural Schools Programs Awards ceremony held at Glenunga International High School on March 9 2021.
Annabelle researched WW1 combatant Alfred Howlett Johnson (a family member) as part of her Year 9 HASS course in 2020.
This research was uploaded to the VWMA as a permanent contribution to the historical record. Annabelle was part of a select group of students who were recognised for the quality of their work. She was presented with her award by the Minister of Education. CYS would like to acknowledge the support and encouragement Annabelle received from her 2020 HASS teacher Lauren Smith, who now teaches at Wirreanda Secondary School.
