Students enjoyed a great day visiting Newchurch Farm. Daniel Newchurch, along with his Papa Ronnie and Nana Lizzie, warmly welcomed everyone to their property.
Students saw firsthand the impressive revegetation and regeneration work the Newchurch family has done. What started as arid land when Ronnie purchased the farm has been transformed with native plants over the last eight years. It was a real-world example showing the students what their own revegetation projects could look like in the future.
Papa Ronnie and Daniel explained how their efforts have brought native wildlife back to the area. We also collected seeds and leaves for an identification activity back at Point Pearce.
Daniel also had a fantastic fire pit with newly built benches he’d made on the weekend, and treated us to a delicious feed of sausages and wattle seed damper with jam and cream.
