Reconciliation Week

Wednesday the 27th of May marks the beginning of Reconciliation week. The theme for National Reconciliation Week for 2020 is ‘In this together’. The National Reconciliation Week 2020 theme reinforces that we all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures.

On Wednesday the SAASTA students organised activities to engage students from the ELC-year 9. The activities involved learning about native animals, Traditional Yuluga Games, Kaurna Language song, Wardu VS Nhandha, Nhagudja Orienteering and Boomerang Art. The students organised the activities in small groups and had to make sure they were organised.

We focussed on not only strengthening our leadership qualities but also developing our general capabilities. The main two capabilities we focussed on was developing our Personal and Social skills and our Intercultural Understanding. The students learnt more about the Narungga history and developed their confidence through getting involved and engaging students.
Overall it was great to see all of the students from ELC-Year 9 all working together and making a difference.
