From Jaynelle:

I have always taken great pride in being a strong role model for our students. I continually encourage our senior students to step out of their comfort zones, initiate conversations with individuals and organisations in our community and build foundations for life beyond school.

Well, taking my own advice turned out to be a rewarding decision. In early September, I had the opportunity to attend the 2023 Agrifuture Rural Women’s Awards night at Parliament House. It was an evening where I had the privilege of sitting alongside directors, ministers, and the three previous years’ SA winners. Listening to their inspiring stories and making valuable contacts proved to be a great night. These connections will prove invaluable for our students when they need expert guidance in the future.

But the excitement didn’t stop there. My overnight trip turned into something more when I was honored with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia Teachers Award. This national award, open to all teachers, recognises their passion and dedication to specific areas within their school community.

I decided to put myself out there by undergoing a rigorous application process and sharing my journey involving our school’s R-12 Agricultural program, the continuing support we receive from the YP community, students who are successful in the Ag. Industry and my involvement in SRC and Wellbeing. Another highlight of the evening was networking with influential personalities like TV presenter Jessica Rowe, Mayor Rowan Ramsey, the Honorable Jason Clare, Schools Plus Chair Rosemary Conn, philanthropic donors like John Fairfax and talented educators.

I have a lot to look forward to during the 12 month fellowship, such as attending a study tour to Singapore, participating in leadership coaching clinics and our school will receive $25,000 to be allocated towards a strategic school project.

This achievement is not just a personal one, it is an acknowledgement to the dedication of our entire school community to education, community engagement, and our shared values.
Remember to push your boundaries!
