Hard work and effort in Semester 2 again paid off when the team won the SAASTA Shield. This three day event saw students compete in multi-challenges on Tuesday where they were required to challenge themselves and come out of their comfort zone in competition against students from other academies. The challenges included Dodgeball, Blind Tennis, Flexifit, Silent disco, Distance challenge, Chill out zone, DanceFit Hip Hop, In it to Win It, and a team building challenge. Participation and enthusiasm were high for the CY Academy and as a result yet another trophy for that series of challenges was won by the team!
Wednesday saw basketball competitions for both male and female students, with the girls team coming 1st in the regional group, but losing in the regional play-offs to Whyalla. The boys came 2nd in the regional group, and defeated Port Lincoln in the position two play-offs.
By combining all tasks and sporting events, success was again there for Central Yorke Academy!
