Growing & Baking Fun
A rainy morning didn’t dampen spirits at the Central Yorke Peninsula Community Library, where the first July Firstival event began with a warm and welcoming winter celebration.
While the weather kept activities indoors, it created the perfect environment for hands-on sessions led by Annabelle Norton and Jaynelle Le Feuvre. Inside the Agriculture classroom, participants planted broccolini, cauliflower, parsley and snow peas, as well as propagated daisies, poppies, rosemary and statice to take home and brighten their gardens.
In the kitchen, the atmosphere was lively as budding bakers prepared a delicious range of muffins, including choc chip and mango varieties. Smoothie stations also proved popular, with a variety of fun and fruity combinations on offer.
Thank you to Annabelle and Jaynelle for generously sharing their time, skills and passion for gardening and cooking. Participants left with trays of fresh seedlings, homemade treats and plenty of new skills to enjoy at home.
Firstival | Clay Creations with Charlotte
The final Firstival event concluded with a hands-on creative workshop titled Clay Creations with Charlotte.
Participants explored a range of clay shaping, moulding and sculpting techniques under the expert guidance of local artist Charlotte Nixon. With her support, a variety of imaginative pieces came to life, including axolotls, bowls, cups, cats and even a rainbow.
After painting and glazing, all creations were placed in the kiln and will be available for collection once firing is complete.
A special thank you to Charlotte for delivering an engaging and sensory-rich introduction to working with clay.
