Easter Celebrations at CYS

Community generosity and fun activities mark the occasion

Easter was celebrated across Central Yorke School with a mix of community support and engaging student activities, bringing together staff, students and local groups in a shared spirit of generosity and connection.

Hot Cross Donations

The school was fortunate to receive a number of donations of hot cross buns, enjoyed by both staff and students. Representatives from the Maitland Uniting Women’s Group visited the school to provide buns for staff, offering a welcome treat during the week. Additional donations were received from the Interchurch Council, with buns distributed to students through the Breakfast Club program. These contributions were greatly appreciated and reflect the strong support the school continues to receive from the local community.

Easter Activities

Students also took part in a range of Easter themed activities in the lead up to the long weekend. A visit from the Easter Bunny brought excitement across the school, with students enjoying the surprise and festive atmosphere.
In the primary years, students in the Year 4 to 6 class participated in an Easter scavenger hunt designed to promote teamwork and problem solving. Working in groups, students followed a series of riddles and clues that guided them around the school. Each task contributed to solving a larger challenge, including identifying elements of the Easter Bunny’s outfit. The activity concluded with students successfully locating their Easter treats, providing a rewarding end to the challenge.
The combination of community generosity and engaging classroom activities created a positive and inclusive lead up to Easter. Opportunities for collaboration, celebration and shared experiences continue to strengthen connections across the school.

Thank you!

Central Yorke School extends its appreciation to the community groups who contributed to these celebrations and to staff who organised activities that supported student engagement and wellbeing.
