Illawonga Camp 2022

The 2022 Illawonga Camp was a on a literal dark-cloud as rising floodwaters from upriver threatened some of the camp’s aquatic activities. But with student safety the number one consideration swimming, kneeboarding and kayaking were moved to a quieter backwater and other activities shuffled to provide a quality camp experience.

The Year 5/6 students were accompanied by class teacher Kate Muir, wellbeing teacher Will Baker and SSO Ron Edwards. Because of the small student numbers the class shared the camp with staff and students from Clare Primary School.
Highlights of the camp included:

  • Learning to kayak.
  • Birds on the open waters.
  • Exploring the cave.
  • Archery and bulleyes.
  • Gymnastics in the foam pit.
  • Karaoke time with Mark.
  • Visiting the ‘Big Bend’ sheep property.
  • Hitting the ‘wall of green’ in the billabong.
