Special Person’s Day

The Junior Primary students together with the Kindy and Occasional Care children invited the ‘special people’ in their lives to join them for our site’s own version of the Father’s Day celebrations. The children were delighted to have so many people sharing their afternoon.

Kindy teacher Cathy Redding welcomed the parents and extended family and community members and invited them to enjoy a specially prepared afternoon tea. Monique Schulte, the ACEO based at the Maitland campus, read in Nharungga ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ book that the Kindy had been using as a springboard for many learning activities. Monique and the students then sang several Nharungga songs.

Junior Primary teacher Linda Cooper gave a demonstration of how to make a wind powered car. Each family then worked together to construct their own. This was a great opportunity for families to be involved with their child’s learning with many cars being successful!
The afternoon concluded with the children presenting their Special People with a card that they had made and a ‘lucky dip’ vegetable seedling that they had potted.
Thank you!

We were very excited by the high attendance of our Point Pearce families for the afternoon and their enthusiasm to join in our school activities.
