Year 2/3 Monarto Camp

The Year 2/3 students enjoyed a wonderful camp to Monarto Safari Park, filled with adventure, teamwork, and learning in the great outdoors.

Day One

Day one began with a guided tour of the park before students settled into their campsite. A barbecue dinner, prepared by Mr Craig, was followed by shelter building, an ice-cream dessert, and an evening walk under the stars. Students toasted marshmallows around the campfire and shared stories before heading to bed.

Day Two

The second day brought even more excitement, with the sounds of African drums and emus greeting students as they woke. They explored their shelters in daylight, then headed out on walking tours to see chimpanzees, elephants, giraffes, and the aviaries. A highlight was a rare close encounter with a Yellow-footed rock wallaby that strolled among the group, leaving even the zookeeper amazed.
Later, students joined an education session with tour guide Roger, competing in a challenge to identify footprints, bones, horns, and even animal droppings. The day concluded with a hamburger dinner, a dusk walk to spot kangaroos, and a blindfolded rope challenge through the trees. The camp gave students rich opportunities to learn, explore, and connect, leaving lasting memories of wildlife, friendship, and discovery.
