Year 7/8 Parliament Excursion

Our Year 7/8 students and Rhys visited Parliament House in Adelaide, bringing their classroom learning to life through a hands-on exploration of how laws are made and how our government works.

On Friday, our Year 7/8 class and Rhys travelled to Parliament House in Adelaide with Miss Caputo, Miss Nixon and Miss Jordi for an unforgettable day of learning.

Students had the opportunity to explore how our South Australian Government works, learning about the important role Parliament plays in making decisions, creating laws and representing our communities. It was wonderful to see classroom learning come to life in such an iconic setting.

One of the highlights of the day was taking part in a mock parliamentary role-play, where students debated and voted on a proposed new rule before exploring how it would progress through the parliamentary process. This hands-on experience gave everyone a deeper understanding of how laws are made and the role government plays in everyday life.

Our students represented Central Yorke School beautifully. They asked thoughtful questions, showed genuine curiosity and embraced every opportunity to learn. It was fantastic to watch their confidence grow as they stepped into the shoes of decision-makers for the day.

A huge thank you to the team at Parliament House for providing such a valuable learning experience, and well done to all our Year 7/8 students and Rhys for making the most of this wonderful opportunity!
