CYS Adelaide Royal Show Success

Central Yorke School was well represented in the Led Steer and Led Goat competitions again at this year’s Royal Adelaide Show with solid wins in a range of contested categories. For many months leading up to the event students in Years 8-12, under the guidance of the Agriculture teachers fed, washed and trained their livestock in order to get them into peak condition for the big competition.

Steer Competition

Our 2022 steer team comprised:

Highlights of the steer competition for CYS included Mitchell Brook who reached the Handlers final and Sophie Baker who came fifth in the Experienced Handlers class.
Our steer ‘Mac’ was 4th in the Heavy domestic school carcass, was the highest scoring Murray Grey school steer on hoof and hook and the 3rd highest score of Murray Grey carcasses. Our steer ‘Bronny’ came 5th in the Light Domestic school carcass and 5th in overall Shorthorn carcasses.

Goat Competition

Our 2022 goat team comprised:

  • Pearl Crawford & Annabel Geater Johnson with ‘Peri’
  • Bella Chapman with ‘Yuri’
  • Brody Davies & Josh Rawlings with ‘Andrew’
  • Barnaby Wheare & Ben Allen with ‘Tate’
  • Sophie Davies with ‘Darryl’

Highlights of the goat competition included Bella Chapman and ‘Yuri’ who came 6th in their class and Annabel Geater-Johnson and Peri who came 5th in the Handlers final out of 192 students.
