On Thursday 6th June students competed in the Year 8/9 Knock Out Netball carnival held at the Maitland Netball Courts. The students involved on the day were: Bethany Hollams, Alice Burrows, Hilary Longstaff, Sophie Baker, Sophie Heinrich, Stephanie Gersch, Tammie Littlewood, Georgia Hasting and Lily Dyett. The team won all four games against Kadina Memorial teams (13-11, 16-12), Maitland Lutheran (13-8) and Minlaton District School (16-11) and earnt a place in the Grand Final. The team came out firing against a strong Harvest team and combined seamlessly to win 18-13.
Highlights of the day included Tammie Littlewood’s shepherding of the ball, Hilary’s defensive takes and Stephanie’s growth throughout the day. Congratulations to all who played with determination and sportsmanship.
Players from the day have been selected to partake in the Yorke Peninsula Zone Team which will occur in Term 3 at Gawler.
