On May 19, Central Yorke Footy Academy played against Maitland Lutheran School at Maitland Town Oval.
CYFA started the game well, with Flynn Briggs collecting the first clearance and hitting up a fast Corey Taylor leading from the forward line. Adam Franke and Gary Nowlan were dominant on the wings, helping the team create many scoring opportunities which resulted in a 19 point lead at the first break.
Kane Elliot started the second quarter off strong, dodging many opponents and kicking 2 of his 4 goals for the game. Mitchell Brook, Brae Hughes and Oscar Arthur provided strong contests around the ground and young guns Brody Davies, Barnaby Wheare and Josh Rawlings all made their mark on the game.
In the second half, Maitland Lutheran fought hard to catch up, however experienced players Angus Clifford, Angus Nowlan and Oscar Moore ramped up the pressure and took control.
Jyiiha Curtis-Kelly took charge of the midfield and Harrison Geater-Johnson, Nathan Rowe and Lachlan Dayman setup well behind the ball to help the CYFA to another 4-goal quarter.
In the final term, Tyson Crowell continued to dominate the air and Sonny Hart kicked his 6th goal for the game. Alex Schache moved to a deep forward and finished with 3 goals.
Final scores were Central Yorke 18.22-130 def Maitland Lutheran 5.1-31.
