Ben Turner-Castles and Zaraeh Stewart-Smith represented Central Yorke School at the Statewide Cross Country Championships, held at Oakbank Racecourse on 5 June.
Competing in wet, windy and cold conditions, both students delivered strong performances and represented the school with pride.
Zaraeh competed as part of the Southern Yorke Peninsula Primary Team in the 3 km event, recording a time of 15 minutes 56 seconds and finishing against a field of 162 runners.
Ben represented the Yorke Peninsula Secondary Team in the 5 km event, recording a time of 18 minutes 38 seconds and finishing 7th out of 67 competitors. His result earned an invitation to compete at the next stage of competition.
The championships provided an opportunity for students to compete against some of the state’s strongest cross country runners and showcase their dedication to the sport.
