In Week 8 of Term 2 the Point Pearce R-2 students attended the Monarto Safari Park for a two-night camp.
Monarto Overnights provide opportunities for students to have fun, work together and learn about the role Monarto Safari Park plays in conservation. Students also had the opportunity to explore the Indaba Bush Camp and surrounds during activities led by Monarto’s Overnight Educator.
Our first day involved Safari Tours with the Education Tour Host on the bus , Nature activities with the Night Educator plus a night walk followed by hot Milo and toasted marshmallows around the campfire.
Day two involved more learning activities with our Conservation Educator where the children had lots of fun cleaning up after the bisons and matching pictures of animals to their poo!!
We were also very lucky to have Uncle Michael a Ngarrindjeri Park Ranger and relative of Shara and family walk us through the culture garden which is thriving at the overnight camp and provided inspiration for our own garden and revegetation project.
The students and family members all agreed it was a great camp with all of our kids wishing they could have stayed longer.
Hopefully we will be back next year!
