Students celebrated NAIDOC Week through community connection.
First Nations students from Reception to Year 6 visited patients in the Chappell Wing at Maitland Hospital as part of their NAIDOC Week celebrations.
Students and patients shared lunch, drew pictures and spent time talking together. The visit created opportunities for students to listen to personal stories, form new friendships and connect with members of the community across generations.
The afternoon highlighted the importance of culture, community and connection, while providing a meaningful way for students and patients to celebrate NAIDOC Week together.
The school extends its thanks to the patients and staff of the Chappell Wing for warmly welcoming the students.
