Stage 2 English tour of the YP

The Stage 2 English students have been learning about the purpose of persuasive texts and techniques. These techniques were then used to convince an audience to visit the Yorke Peninsula. With this end in mind, the Stage 2 English class travelled around the Yorke Peninsula on June 3 visiting local towns, beaches, and tourist attractions. The purpose of this excursion was to collect information about the Yorke Peninsula and why it is a picturesque holiday location.

Whilst on the excursion, the students identified different tourist attractions, hospitality, accommodation, and activities which would attract tourists to the Yorke Peninsula. With this information, the students then created a booklet discussing the reasons why the Yorke Peninsula is a great family holiday destination.
The students visited locations such as Black Point, Port Vincent, Stansbury, Ardrossan, Port Victoria, and Minlaton. A highlight of the trip was visiting the fauna park in Minlaton, where students were welcomed at the fence by friendly kangaroos and emus.
