Honouring ANZAC Day

The Junior Primary class and the Kindy children visited the War Memorial at Point Pearce. Nana Lorraine spoke to us about some of the Point Pearce ancestors who went to war and told us about her uncle who was involved with the Light Horsemen.

She explained that her and the children’s ancestors went to help some other fellas to fight against some selfish people who weren’t very nice. Nana Lorraine emphasised many times that we don’t want to fight, we want to be happy and get along with other people, and that all the children should remember that.

Nana Lorraine showed us all the names of the Nunga soldiers on the Point Pearce War Memorial. She pointed out some who were from her family and some who did not come home. Those who did come back didn’t talk about the war. She was very sad that they couldn’t join the RSL and didn’t receive any benefits.

The Kindy children also made ANZAC biscuits.
