Clontarf visit

On Thursday 25th March, the Point Pearce R-2 class performed Narungga songs to the Clontarf students who were visiting Point Pearce Aboriginal Community.

Before we walked over to the Church Hall we practised our songs and rehearsed how we were going to perform to the group. The students were nervous but excited to be sharing the songs they had learnt in Narungga at school with Aunty Sonya. Before we sang, Lynarha Newchurch delivered the Welcome to Country in Narungga language.
The songs that we performed were:

  • Incy Wincy Wagu (spider) – on Wednesday the students each made a Wagu for the performance
  • Wash your mara (hands)
  • Gagga, Wiri, Madda, Dhidna (Head, shoulders, knees and toes)

We got all the Clontarf students and staff to learn the words and sing with us for Gagga, Wiri, Madda, Dhidna. Our songs went very well and received a huge round of applause from our visitors. As a thank you gift from Clontarf, each student received a Port Power football, scarf and bag.
